The State Council approved the “Plan for the Construction of the Hengqin International Recreation and Tourist Island” (“the Plan”) on 21 March 2019, and requests the People's Government of Guangdong Province and the National Development and Reform Commission to execute the Plan. The Plan mainly covered the establishment of demonstration zones for cooperation within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and moving forward with the construction of pilot free trade zones.
