Public Notice in relation to “Measures for Supervision of Hong Kong and Macao Motor Vehicles Entering and Exiting the Chinese Mainland by Gongbei Customs (Trial)”

The Gongbei Customs (“the authorities”) issued the “Public Notice in relation to “Measures for Supervision of Hong Kong and Macao Motor Vehicles Entering and Exiting the Chinese Mainland by Gongbei Customs (Trial)” (“the Measures”) on 23 June 2023. The applicable target of the Measures are Hong Kong and Macao non-commercial small passenger vehicles that are registered and obtained a valid license in Hong Kong and Macao and can temporarily enter and exit the Chinese Mainland after being approved by the competent authorities of the Chinese Mainland government. On the premise that the vehicle itself is not used for commercial purposes such as business operations, import taxes are temporarily exempt from customs. Vehicle owners should complete the vehicle registration process with the customs before entering the Chinese Mainland, based on the approval documents issued by the Chinese Mainland government. The Measures shall be effective from 23 June 2023.
