On 26 December 2023, the National Development and Reform Commission issued the “Opinions on Easing Special Measures for Market Access in the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone” (“the Opinions”). The Opinions proposed to reduce restrictions on the market access of medical institutions from Hong Kong and Macao, encourage the establishment of sole proprietorship, joint venture medical institutions in the Free Trade Zone and provide policies and measures to support Macao service institutions in setting up clinics, clinics, and other medical institutions in the Free Trade Zone. In addition, the Opinions aimed to optimize the requirements for market access in professional service industries, including facilitating the development of property examination service and property management service from Hong Kong and Macao within Free Trade Zone.
