On 29 December 2023, the Shenzhen Municipal Local Financial Regulatory Bureau issued “Opinions of Promoting the Development of Social Finance in Shenzhen”. The opinions proposed to fully leverage the location advantages of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (“GBA”), strengthen cooperation and exchanges with Hong Kong and Macao in the field of social finance, and promote the exchange and cooperation of ideas, talents and innovative experiences in social finance. The opinions supported the holding of high-level social finance theme forums, seminars and other activities, and establishing a multi-level dialogue mechanism with international organizations and international financial centre cities. In addition, the opinions encouraged various types of financial institutions to strengthen international exchanges and cooperation in the field of social finance, and enhanced the international influence of sustainable finance in Shenzhen. The Opinions will be implemented from 29 December 2023 and be valid until 31 December 2025.
