On 19 January 2024, the “Regulations of Road Transport in Guangdong Province” (“the Regulations”) was revised for the second time in accordance with the “Decision in relation to the Amendment of Regulations of Road Transport in Guangdong Province and Four Other Local Regulations” in the eighth meeting of Standing Committee of the Fourteenth Guangdong Provincial People’s Congress. The Regulations propose that Hong Kong and Macao investors who invest in the road transport industry in Guangdong Province should obtain approval for the project, they should apply for project permit from department of transport of people's government at the municipality level or above where the enterprise is located before applying for the corresponding road transport operation permit in accordance with the law. The Regulations were effective from 1 May 2014 and the “Regulations on the Administration of Road Transport in Guangdong Province” was repealed at the same time.
