On 4 March 2024, the People’s Government of Zhuhai Municipality issued the “2024 National Economic and Social Development Plan in Zhuhai Municipality” (“the Plan”). The Plan proposed to deepen the cross-border financial cooperation, encourage Macao and Guangdong Cooperation Zone to jointly build a “Cruciate Financial District”, and build the third pole of financial development in Guangdong Province. In addition, the Plan aimed to work with Macao to promote the construction of Guangzhou-Zhuhai-Macao science and technology innovation corridor, and accelerate the construction of Guangdong Laboratory of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Hengqin and the China- Portuguese National Science and Technology Exchange and Cooperation Centre.
