The Ministry of Education in Guangzhou Municipal Panyu District, the Political and Legal Affairs Committee of the Communist Party of China, Guangzhou Municipal Panyu District (“the authorities”) issued the “Notice in relation to the Implementation Measures for the Compulsory Education for Accompanying Children of Residents Coming to the Guangzhou Municipal Panyu District” (“the Notice”) on 13 March 2024. The authorities announced that Hong Kong and Macao residents residing in the Panyu District and holding the Residence Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents (or eligible children and youth holding such permits) can apply for school enrolment for accompanying children of Hong Kong and Macao residents in the Panyu District to the educational administrative department in accordance with the relevant regulations. These Measures shall be effective from 13 March 2024 and valid for 3 years.
