Notice in relation to Launching a Series of Special Actions for Personal Information Protection in 2025

The Office of Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Public Security, and the State Administration for Market Regulation (“the authorities”) issued the “Notice in relation to Launching a Series of Special Actions for Personal Information Protection in 2025” (“the Notice”) on 28 March 2025. The authorities proposed to concentrate on the use of facial recognition technology to process facial information in public places such as transportation, accommodation and tourism, education and training, culture and sports, logistics and trade, and leisure and entertainment, and intensively address the information leakage problem caused by the lack of stringent encryption protection measures.
