The Human Resources and Social Security of Guangdong Province (“the authorities”) issued the “Notice in relation to Managing the Basic Pension Insurance and Disability and Illness Allowance for Employees” (“the Notice”) on 3 June 2025. The authorities proposed that employees who lose their work capacity due to illness and are certified by the municipal labour capacity assessment agency as having completely lost their working ability with the assessment result valid for one year are eligible for disability allowance. The allowance is determined by the contribution years of basic pension. Individual with less than five years of cumulative contributions can receive the disability allowance for a duration of 12 months.
