The Guangdong Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Finance, and the Guangdong Provincial Tax service, State Administration of Taxation (“the authorities”) issued the “Notice in relation to Effectively Handling the Matters of Older Individuals Receiving Unemployment Insurance Benefits on Participating in the Enterprise’s Basic Pension Insurance” (“the Notice”) on 6 June 2025. The authorities proposed that older individuals that received unemployment insurance benefits, participated in and made contributions to employee’s basic pension insurance as individuals are eligible to apply for basic pensions from social insurance agency from the month following their legal retirement age.
