Overseas

Publicity and Promotion

The Office’s overseas publicity and promotion are ongoing. We have continued to conduct overseas duty visits and collaborate with the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Offices as well as partnering organisations overseas, so as to proactively reach out to talents and enterprises in different places to promote the enormous opportunities arising from Greater Bay Area development, and encourage them to grasp such opportunities by leveraging Hong Kong’s unique advantages of having strong support from the motherland and close connection with the world under “one country, two systems”.

12 to 14 February

The Commissioner, Ms Maisie Chan, visited Bangkok, Thailand, where she attended a business luncheon, “Unlocking New Horizons: Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area as a Hub for Global Business and Finance”, organised by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Bangkok, and delivered a keynote address to over 100 guests from the local government and business sectors, introducing the geographical advantages and development potential of the Greater Bay Area, promoting Hong Kong’s unique advantages as the Greater Bay Area’s international entry point, and encouraging Thai talents and enterprises to seize the immense business opportunities in the Greater Bay Area through Hong Kong. During the visit, the Commissioner also called on the Minister of the Chinese Embassy in the Kingdom of Thailand, Mr Wu Zhiwu, and had meetings and exchanges with representatives from the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand, Thai FinTech Association and local chambers of commerce, with a view to promoting Hong Kong’s unique advantages of having strong support from the motherland and close connection with the world under “one country, two systems”, as well as its role as an ideal partner for Thai enterprises to tap into the vast markets of the Greater Bay Area and the rest of the Mainland.

10 to 12 April

The Under Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs (USCMA), Mr Clement Woo, visited Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to participate in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Talent Development Showcase organised by the Labour and Welfare Bureau and Hong Kong Talent Engage. During the exchange session, the USCMA highlighted that the Greater Bay Area, as one of the most economically vibrant and open regions of the country, is a fast-growing economic power. Under “one country, two systems”, Hong Kong serves as the international entry point of the Greater Bay Area, the ideal base for Malaysian companies and talents looking to tap into the region’s vast business opportunities, and the best platform to build their Mainland and Asian businesses and careers. The HKSAR Government will continue to work closely with the Guangdong Province and other Greater Bay Area cities, with a view to promoting closer alignment of rules and mechanisms, and better leveraging the Greater Bay Area as a source of energy for high-quality development. During the visit, the USCMA also called on the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia, Ministry of Human Resources of Malaysia, and Universiti Malaya, and met with representatives of the Hong Kong-Malaysia Business Association and the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia. The USCMA encouraged Malaysian enterprises and talents to leverage Hong Kong’s advantages to explore greater room for development in the Greater Bay Area.
