Greater Bay Area Cities

In the second half of 2024, the Office has continued to actively visit different cities of the Greater Bay Area, with a view to enhancing Guangdong/Hong Kong, Hong Kong/Shenzhen co-operations, and promote high-level collaborations with other cities of the Greater Bay Area, thereby strengthening inter-connectivity and integrated development within the Greater Bay Area.

2024

The Commissioner, Ms Maisie Chan, visited Zhongshan to meet with leaders of the Zhongshan Municipal Government and to attend the Symposium for Promoting the Development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Zhongshan). About 2400 guests took part in the Symposium, including government officials, representatives of trade associations, industry leaders and start-up entrepreneurs from Hong Kong and Zhongshan. Participants had in-depth exchanges about the business and investment environment, policies on employment and entrepreneurship, as well as talent policies of Hong Kong and Zhongshan.

The Commissioner, Ms Maisie Chan, visited Foshan to learn about the development and application of the hydrogen energy industry there. The HKSAR Government announced the Strategy of Hydrogen Development in Hong Kong in June this year. Among others, it sets out the strategy of advancing with prudence to create an environment conducive to the development of hydrogen energy in Hong Kong in a prudent and orderly manner so that Hong Kong would be able to capitalise on the environmental and economic opportunities brought about by the development of hydrogen energy recently, and to broaden co-operation with other Greater Bay Area cities and even different parts of the world.
