The Office has continued to conduct overseas duty visits and collaborate with the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Offices as well as partnering organisations overseas, so as to proactively reach out to talents and enterprises in different places to promote the enormous opportunities arising from Greater Bay Area development, and encourage them to tap the vast markets of the Greater Bay Area and the Mainland by leveraging Hong Kong’s advantages of having strong support from the motherland and close connection with the world under “one country, two systems”.
The Commissioner, Ms Maisie Chan, visited Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where she delivered a keynote address at the “Arising Business Opportunities – The Greater Bay Area and Hong Kong” Seminar, promoting the strong impetus for growth and development potential of the Greater Bay Area to Malaysian enterprises and talents. The Commissioner also met with officials of the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry of Malaysia as well as representatives of chambers of commerce and the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia to learn about the latest developments in Malaysia and promote exchange and collaboration between the two places in various areas.
The Assistant Commissioner, Miss Cathy Li, visited Melbourne, Australia, during which she delivered keynote addresses at several seminars to promote the opportunities of the Greater Bay Area and the strengths of Hong Kong to Australian enterprises and talents. The Assistant Commissioner also met with representatives from a biomedical and clinical research centre, elucidating the key policies and latest information about Greater Bay Area development, as well as how overseas enterprises could leverage Hong Kong’s advantages to access the vast markets of the Greater Bay Area and the Mainland.
The Commissioner, Ms Maisie Chan, visited Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, where she delivered a keynote speech on the theme of “Hong Kong: The Best Gateway to the Greater Bay Area for Vietnamese Businesses” at the Ho Chi Minh City – Greater Bay Area Economic and Trade Investment Promotion Conference, promoting Hong Kong as the ideal gateway for Vietnamese enterprises and talents to expand into the enormous markets of the Greater Bay Area. The Commissioner also met with the senior representatives of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Hong Kong Business Association Vietnam, and called on the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Ho Chi Minh City for in-depth exchanges on the latest developments in Hong Kong and Vietnam.
