Telling Good Stories

of the Greater Bay Area

“Telling good stories of the Greater Bay Area” is one of the key tasks of the Office. We have been promoting the significant opportunities of Greater Bay Area development through diversified means and channels. We have also established the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Development Promotion Centre (Promotion Centre) in Guangzhou, which takes the initiative to better understand the needs of Hong Kong people and enterprises pursuing development in the Mainland cities of the Greater Bay Area so as to provide them with practical assistance.

The Office and the Education Bureau co-organised the “Dreams to Greater Bay Area Come True” Itinerary Design Competition under Mainland Exchange Programmes for Students, encouraging secondary school students to design routes for Mainland exchanges covering the Greater Bay Area cities as destinations. Through the activities, students are encouraged to gather information so as to, from different perspectives, deepen their understanding of the Greater Bay Area and explore the historical and cultural heritage, people’s living, I&T development opportunities, etc. in the Greater Bay Area, thereby broadening their horizons and cultivating their affection for the country. In her speech at the kick-off ceremony of the competition, the Commissioner, Ms Maisie Chan, said that the Greater Bay Area is blessed with unique advantages in different realms that are waiting for young people to discover for themselves. This would strengthen their national pride while developing themselves into a new force in promoting the steadfast and successful implementation of “one country, two systems”.

The Head of the Promotion Centre, Ms Fiona Lee, attended the luncheon of the Hong Kong-Guangzhou-Foshan business networking tour of Business Network International (BNI) ALPS held at O2 Park in Haizhu District, Guangzhou, to promote opportunities of the Greater Bay Area and introduce the functions and work of the Promotion Centre to Hong Kong enterprises, and exchange views with around 50 Hong Kong enterprise representatives.

The Commissioner, Ms Maisie Chan, attended the Launching Ceremony of the Hong Kong Pavilion of the 19th China International SME Expo cum Entrepreneurs’ Networking Luncheon in Guangzhou. During her visit to the Hong Kong Pavilion at the Expo, the Commissioner encouraged participating enterprises to actively utilise the platform of the Expo to expand businesses in the Mainland on the one hand, and to pursue complementary co-operation with enterprises from other Greater Bay Area cities and across the country to expand overseas through Hong Kong.

The Commissioner, Ms Maisie Chan, visited the Office’s booth at the Entrepreneur Day, and exchanged views with young entrepreneurs and students there. The Commissioner encouraged young people aspiring to start their businesses in the Greater Bay Area to seize the development opportunities of the Greater Bay Area, and to realise their aspirations for innovation and entrepreneurship on a bigger stage in the Greater Bay Area.
