The Zhuhai Municipal Bureau of Commerce and the Zhuhai Municipal Public Security Bureau issued the “Opinions on the Implementation of Convenience Measures for Foreign Household Persons on Car Purchase and Car Plate Registration in Zhuhai” (“the Opinions”) on 3 March 2020. The authorities announced that the restrictions to foreign household persons on car plate registration may gradually be relaxed. The measures include enabling Hong Kong and Macao citizens to purchase vehicles and register for car plates with their Residence Permits for Hong Kong and Macao Residents. Those without residence permits may also purchase vehicles and register for car plates with their Hong Kong and Macao Identity Cards, Home Return Permits and temporary residence permits. The Opinions are effective from 3 March 2020 and are valid for 2 years.
