On 17 February 2023, the General Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province issued the "Various Measures for Further Encouraging the Establishment of Foreign-invested R&D Centres in China" ("the Measures"). The Measures proposed to increase the support to foreign-invested R&D centres and their ongoing R&D and innovation activities in China. Specific content of the Measures includes encouraging financial institutions, under risk control and commercial sustainability, to provide financial support for foreign-invested R&D centres to carry out technological and innovation activities and preliminary research. Besides, the Measures encouraged foreign-invested R&D centres to engage in major national scientific and technological projects.
