On 7 June 2023, the People's Government of Guangzhou Municipality issued the “Overall Development Plan of Nansha Science City in Guangzhou Municipality (2022- 2035)” (“the Plan”). The Plan proposed to establish a Guangdong-Hong Kong- Macao science big data research platform, support the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) in building a Guangdong -Hong Kong- Macao science Innovation Park, improve the service capacity of Nansha-Guangdong-Hong Kong and Macao (International) Youth Innovation Workshop, and promote the establishment of Guangdong- Hong Kong and Macao cooperative innovation and entrepreneurship parks. In addition, the Plan aimed to support the centralized development of IP service brand agencies in Nansha and attract World Intellectual Property Organization such as Technology and Innovation Support Center (“TISC”) to settle in Nansha, so as to build an IP service highland in the GBA.
