On 18 July 2023, the Exit-Entry Administration of the People's Republic of China issued the “Various Administration and Service Measures for Promoting the Development of the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone” (“the Measures”). The Measures proposed to launch pilot “Frequent Visitor” scheme at the Hengqin port and provide clearance facilitation for eligible visitors including business personnel and employees of Macao universities that frequently travel between Hengqin and Macao. In addition, the Measures proposed to implement the new model of “Cooperative Inspection and One-off Release” for inbound and outbound clearance vehicles, and achieve “One-off queuing, Centralized Collection and One-off Release” for cross-border vehicles. The Measures also promote the development of yacht industry and island tourism resources in the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone and facilitate the development of the tourism industry. The Measures will be implemented from 18 July 2023.
