On 24 July 2023, the Office of the People's Government of Foshan Municipality issued the “Implementation Plan for Accelerating High-quality Meteorological Development in the Foshan Municipality” (“the Plan”). The Plan proposed key tasks in carrying out the innovation program of modern meteorological science and technology, in particular, including participating in the construction of the Institute of Meteorology in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (“GBA”), jointly promoting the innovation and coordinated development of meteorological science and technology in the GBA, and strengthening the cooperation among universities and research institutes in mainland China and abroad in areas of observation, testing, talent cultivation and scientific and technological breakthrough.
