On 4 August 2023, the Office of the People's Government of Zhuhai Municipality issued the “Implementation Plan for Promoting the High-quality Development of Public Hospitals in the Zhuhai Municipality (2023- 2025)” (“the Plan”). The Plan proposed key tasks for building a new system for high-quality public hospitals and aimed to strengthen the exchanges and cooperation with medical institutions in Hong Kong and Macao and support the joint establishment of key specialized disease groups, key laboratories, and clinical research centres. In addition, the Plan promotes third-level hospitals to actively implement the policy of “Measure of Using HK Registered Drugs and Medical Devices Used in HK public Hospitals in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area”, and support designated medical institutions in the GBA in importing and using drugs and advanced medical devices (except for large medical equipment) that have been marketed and applied by Hong Kong and Macao public hospitals in accordance with relevant laws and urgent clinical needs principles.
