The State Taxation Administration and Ministry of Finance (“the authorities”) issued the “Notice in relation to the Implementation for Extension of Individual Income Tax (“IIT”) Policies relating to Subsidies for Foreign Individuals” (“the Notice”) on 18 August 2023. The authorities announced that foreign individuals who qualify as resident individuals are eligible to enjoy special additional deductions for IIT. They may also enjoy tax-exempt preferential policies for subsidies such as housing allowances, language training fees, children’s education expenses etc. This Notice shall be effective until 31 December 2027.
