The General Office of the State Council (“the authorities”) issued the “Measures for the Pilot Program for Hong Kong and Macao Lawyers to Obtain Mainland Lawyer Practicing Qualifications and Engage in Legal Professional Work in the Nine Cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” (“the Measures”) on 25 September 2023. The authorities announced that eligible Hong Kong and Macao lawyers who have passed the lawyer qualification examination in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and obtained the Mainland lawyer practicing qualifications are allowed to engage in a certain range of legal professional services in Mainland. The Measures shall be effective from 5 October 2023 and valid until 4 October 2026.
