On 15 August 2023, the Guangdong Provincial Medical Products Administration, the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission and the Health Commission of Guangdong Province issued the “Work Plan for Supporting the Application of Macao Drugs in Hengqin Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone” (“the Plan”). The Plan proposed to follow the “Memorandum of Cooperation in the Regulation of Drugs and Medical Devices in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area” signed by Guangdong Province and Macao, strengthen the cooperation with Macao drug regulatory department and guide the drug regulatory department of the Cooperation Zone to carry out supervision work. In addition, the Plan aimed to strengthen the connection with the drug regulatory department of the Macao to facilitate the safety of the whole life cycle of designated drugs from Macao.
