The Office of People’s Government of Zhongshan Municipality (“the authorities”) issued the “Notice in relation to the “Administrative Measures for the Compulsory Education Points Based Admission System for Migrant Persons in Zhongshan Municipality”” (“the Notice”) on 4 February 2024. The authorities announced that the minimum standard of admission score shall be reasonably determined based on the accumulated scores of migrant persons participating in the point-based system and the available placements for compulsory education in each township and neighbourhoods for the current year. Children of migrant persons shall enjoy compulsory public education services based on the accumulated scores, arranging in descending order. “Migrant persons” refer to non-residents of Zhongshan Municipality, residing within the administrative regions of Zhongshan Municipality, holding valid Residence Permits for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Residents. These Measures shall be implemented from 4 February 2024 and valid until 31 December 2026.
